Voranc Vogel joined the team of Delo newspaper photographers in 1996 while still in high school. After graduating from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Primorska with a degree in cultural studies and anthropology, he continued his studies in photography at the Paris Institute SPEOS, at workshops with the agency VII in Ljubljana, and with the Magnum agency in London.
His photographs have been published in national and international publications. Voranc has received numerous awards for his work, including an award for the best photograph in culture category at the Slovenia Press Photo competition (2011), for the best story in culture category (SPP, 2012), an award for special achievements from the Journalists’ Association of Slovenia (2013), and a journalism Watchdog award (DNS, 2014). He is the author of four solo exhibitions and has co-authored numerous group exhibitions at home and abroad.
Since 2012 he is an editor of photography and multimedia at Delo media house’s web page and leads various digital projects.
Vogel received his formal education from the University of Primorska. He graduated in 2009 as Major de Promotion with a degree in cultural studies and anthropology. His diploma-work, The Truth of Manipulation in Photography was bestowed the Faculty of Humanity’s “Award of Special Recognition” .
In addition, Vogel attended the Paris Institute of Photography and has participated in masterclass workshops led by Ron Haviv, Antonin Kratochvil, Yuri Kozyrev. In 2010 he was accepted into London’s Magnum Photos Workshop.
Always looking to expand his depth of field he recently attended a course by on data driven journalism.
